2. Youth Recreation Athletics Scholarship Application Guidelines

   The City of Vandalia’s Parks & Recreation Department has developed a scholarship program for students of Vandalia-Butler City Schools requesting financial assistance to participate in Youth Recreation Athletics at the Vandalia Recreation Center. Students who meet the qualifications and income requirements listed below are eligible to apply. 

   Important Information

   1. Applicants must attend Vandalia-Butler City Schools.
   2. Eligibility does not guarantee a spot in the program.
   3. Applicants must submit a letter from Vandalia-Butler City Schools stating they receive free or reduced lunch with their application. 
   4. Scholarships will be awarded on a first come first served, based on need and availability of scholarship funds.
   5. Families are responsible to pay the percentage of fees not covered by the scholarship of each sport they receive scholarship money.
   6. Receiving scholarship money does not guarantee your athlete will receive money next year or in another sport. Families must reapply for each sport.  
   7. Students who receive school reduced lunch will receive scholarship funds covering 75% of registration fees. Students who receive free school lunch will receive scholarship funds covering 100% of registration fees.
   8. Athletes that do not use all the scholarship monies will not be able to carry them forward to future sports. You are encouraged to reapply for future sports.
   9. All information on the application must be accurate. If false information, omissions, or misrepresentations are discovered, the application may be rejected.
   10. All requests for scholarships will be evaluated by Recreation staff.

    Please upload your letter from the Vandalia-Butler City Schools here. You may also email it to Maecie Burkhardt at mburkhardt@vandaliaohio.org or drop it off at the Vandalia Recreation Center Front Desk. Letter must be received by when the general registration ends for each specific sport.
