Vandalia Fire Division

Fire Station #1 construction was completed in 2010 and replaced what is now referred to as Fire Station #3.  The fire station headquarters and administrtive offices are housed at 8705 Peters Pike in Vandalia, Ohio.

On August 14, 2006, council awarded the bid to Michael Schuster and Associates of Cincinnati, Ohio, to design the new fire station and to complete a study of where the new fire station should be built.  Michael Schuster and Associates conducted a study of numerous sites and costs associated with those sites.  Costs for land and clean up of current sites were found to be costly.

In the interim, discussion began on a joint staffing project with Butler Township.  Michael Schuster and Associates was asked to do a feasibility study on the best strategic location of fire station 1 with the idea of joint staffing at Butler Township fire stations and fire station 2 being a part of the overall picture.  Once the information was assimilated, it was recommended that the fire station be constructed at Stonequarry Crossings.

Bids were advertised, interviews were conducted with the top bidders, and council awarded the bid to Brumbaugh Construction at their July 13, 2009, council meeting.  Ground breaking took place on Friday, July 31,2009, with Brumbaugh beginning construction the following week
