HEALTH AND SAFETY

The Health and Safety group is tasked with ensuring that operations are conducted with safety as a priority.  The group works diligently to provide health and wellness programs to assist the firefighter/EMT/paramedics in maintaining a healthy lifestyle as well as being responsible for the health, welfare and safety of the entire organization and the citizens they serve.

                DAVID CLAPPER, LIEUTENANT

Lieutenant Clapper is a life-long resident of Vandalia and a graduate of Vandalia Butler High School.  Lieutenant Clapper was hired September 14, 2000, as a paid on call firefighter/EMT, and was promoted to paid on call Lieutenant on July 1, 2005.  Lieutenant Clapper is the Division of Fire's Health and Safety Officer, and chairs the Health and Safety work group.  Lieutenant Clapper and the Health and Safety work group's primary mission is to ensure the health and safety of each and every member.  The Health and Safety group publishes monthly safety messages, is involved in the investigation of employee injuries and accidents, participates in the review and the development of heatlh and safety general operating guidelines, and in general, is responsible for advancing the health, wellness, and safety of the organization.
