NAWA AND TRI-CITIES AUTHORITY |
Prior to June of 1996, the Miami Conservancy District provided the cities of Huber Heights, Tipp City and Vandalia with wastewater treatment services. The Miami Conservancy District expressed the intent to discontinue these services and gave the cities the option to acquire and operate the facility themselves. The three cities established the Tri-Cities North Regional Wastewater Authority (TCA). Since the early 1970s, Vandalia has purchased its water supply from the City of Dayton. Tipp City and Vandalia established the Northern Area Water Authority (NAWA) in 2001 to study the feasibility and costs involved in constructing a new facility that would provide water for both communities. Vandalia's foresight in planning this project has proven to be visionary; the city of Dayton raised water rates by more than 50 percent the last three years. |
